| On May 21, 2020, Monterey County Environmental Health Bureau announced they will be offering permit fee payment plans for businesses that have experienced hardship due to COVID-19. The payment plan option allows for businesses to continue operating while an extension is offered for payment of annual health permit fees. |
Permits are renewable annually and all payments are due by July 1st of each year; payments received after July 1st are assessed a penalty fee and facilities operating without a valid permit are subject to closure. Payments can be made online, by phone, or in person in the Salinas, Monterey, or King City office.
